| FTR MOTO2 MACHINE TO DEBUT AT MONTMELO CEV ROUND |
| FTR MOTO will unveil it’s Moto2 machine at the fifth round of the CEV Spanish Championship at the Montmelo circuit near Barcelona on October 9-11. The machine is nearing completion and FTR Moto is excited at the prospect of being able to display the M209 and to test the innovative 600cc machine in association with the Joe Darcey Spanish Supersport Championship Team. “We’ve considered every possible plan for the machine and we’re really pleased to be able to fully prepare now for the machine’s debut at Montmelo,” said FTR Moto director Steve Bones. He continued: “Our Moto2 machine has been built 100 per cent from the ground up. Everything has been designed in-house, we’ve added to our years of experience in Grand Prix racing and produced a racing motorcycle that we’re certain will be well received and competitive. “We have had plenty of interest from prospective Grand Prix and Spanish Championship teams and are pleased to be able to show the machine ahead of schedule and in good time for the winter testing required by the teams.” Following its Montmelo appearance the machine will be raced in the final two Spanish Championship events of the year, at Jerez and Valencia, while FTR Moto transfers the feedback to its research and development department to finely tune the 2010 customer chassis. “We’re pretty confident that the first prototype will be very close to the finished product for 2010 but the experience of the Joe Darcey team and its riders will be able to confirm our beliefs and offer the invaluable feedback that can only be gained from testing and racing,” added Bones. The FTR Moto design team has also worked closely with the FIM Grand Prix technical experts to ensure the M209 features precise dimensions for the new, Honda-based Moto2 engine. Bones concluded: “We could have easily produced a machine much earlier but we have endeavoured to be as close as possible to being fully ready for the 2010 Moto2 implementation into Grand Prix and Spanish Championship.” The M209 will feature an engine prepared by the Joe Darcey Team, one of the leading Spanish Supersport Championship teams, and the latest technology from FTR’s technical partners; Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Marchesini wheels and Dunlop tyres. |
