JMW FOGI TEAM TO CONTEST SPANISH MOTO2 WITH FTR
The newly-formed JMW FOGI Team will contest the seven-round, 2010 CEV Buckler Spanish Moto2 Championship using an FTR Moto machine and with talented Northern Ireland rider Ian Lowry.

The JMW FOGI Team is being spearheaded by former Grand Prix winner Jeremy McWilliams and Canadian businessman Angus Borland.

Borland said: “By establishing a team in the CEV Spanish series we want to provide a platform to tempt promising North American, British and Irish riders to cut their teeth and prepare for the new Moto2 World Championship.”

Lowry, fifth in the 2009 British Superbike Championship, commented: “I’m really excited about this new adventure and moving into Moto2. I think the opening Grand Prix in Qatar proved how exciting this form of racing is and how accessible and cost effective it is.”

The JMW FOGI Team is the third CEV Championship team to choose FTR Moto2 machinery and Lowry will be joined by FTR-mounted Scot Kev Coghlan and Russian Alexey Ivanov at the opening round this Sunday, April 18, at the Catalunya circuit near Barcelona.

FTR director Steve Bones said: “I’m pleased that we have three separate teams believing in us in the 2010 Spanish Championship. After Alex Debon’s runner-up finish in Qatar on Sunday night we’ve had enquiries from a lot of teams interested in our World Championship, Spanish Championship and trackday machines.

“And this Sunday is the opening CEV race in Spain so the season feels like it’s really getting into full swing now and there’s nothing quite like the buzz of a race to get teams and riders motivated.”

2010 CEV Buckler Spanish Championship: 1 April 18 – Catalunya; 2 May 9 – Albacete; 3 June 13 – Jerez; 4 September 12 – Albacete; 5 October 3 – Aragon; 6 November 14 – Valencia; 7 November 21 – Jerez.

Ends.
