| FTR READY FOR NEXT STEP IN MOTO2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP |
![]() FTR Moto is looking to improve on its display in the inaugural Moto2 World Championship race - when it took second and ninth places in Qatar three weeks ago - as the Championship moves to round two at Jerez, Spain this weekend. Spanish rider Alex Debon took his Motor Sport 69 Team machine to runner-up place at the Losail circuit near Doha and believes a first victory may not be too far away. “Jerez is my home Grand Prix so I want to win for the Spanish fans,” said Debon. “We have a good team and I’m sure we can find a good race set-up from the FTR machine. I know the circuit very well and I’m hoping for a good race.” FTR has been working to improve it’s Grand Prix and CEV Spanish Championship machinery, based on its opening round performances and director Steve Bones believes the areas of improvement have been addressed. He said: “Until we had the Qatar race we didn’t truly know the areas to focus on to improve the M210 machine. Now we’ve had that race it’s clear where we can obtain a better performance. “The positive feedback from Qatar – and of course the top 10 finishes for Alex and Gabor Talmasci in ninth – confirmed our thinking in terms of the rigidity of the chassis and its ability to ensure tyre life at optimum performance for the full duration of a World Championship race.” The Jerez action gets under way this afternoon with free practice followed by qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
